It is important to note that all of these requirements must be met for a jumping knife to be licensed. If already a criterion is not met, the knife is illegal! The bayonet-shaped planting groove, also bayonet or planting groove is a cam attached to the barrel of the rifle and round or square. This cam is used to lock the old eyelet bayonet. The cam fits into the bayonet guide groove and locks it on the barrel. There are other versions used in modern bayonets. In some modern bayonets, the lock button is located on the handle, with which the lock can be released. [2] Modern bayonets usually have a planting groove on the seam button and a ring (racing ring) in the guard bar, which is inserted on the barrel. Now, however, as with all blank weapons, the question arises as to under what conditions you can legally buy a bayonet or whether these can even be completely banned, such as hand knives or Balisong. I would like to briefly discuss this issue with you below. However, this is not a binding legal opinion, but my personal assessment of the Weapons Act. Bayonets have been used in France since the mid-17th century and gradually became common in most European armies. Initially, bayonets were inserted with the handle into the barrel of the rifle (called sheet pile bayonets), so that the musket could not fire.
As early as 1669, Sébastien le Prestre de Vauban invented bayonets, which were attached to the side of the cannon with a spout – called bayonets with carnation or dill – and therefore did not prevent the firing of musket balls even when they were planted. The French army has been equipped with these new bayonets since 1689. Around 1700, bayonets appeared, which had an inclined arm and thus also allowed to recharge. The most important blade shape quickly developed into a stable shape, three or square, with a length of about 40 cm. Hand knives: Hunters and members of the leather or fur processing professions may use hand knives to perform their duties. The Federal Criminal Police Office can dispel doubts (for a fee) in individual cases. For example, the BKA decided that lighters with a pocket knife blade and ballpoint pens with knife blades are legal, and small butterfly knives with a blade length of up to 41 mm and a blade width of up to 10 mm are not weapons. Almost everyone knows about these extremely brutal blank weapons from countless war movies or various video games. But what exactly distinguishes them and is it allowed to buy a bayonet knife legally or are they even banned? I try to clarify this with you in the following chapters.
What are the most versatile alternatives? The bayonet is worn in the disassembled state like other weapons on the side or on the paddock. However, as with the Simonow SKS-45, it can also be permanently installed on the weapon and folded into the position of use (folding bayonet). Then, in the strict sense of the word, it is no longer a side rifle. Planting means attaching a knife to a long-barreled weapon (rifle). This gives you a second offensive or defensive weapon. In hand-to-hand combat, it is thus possible to use the rifle as a knife or shock weapon. This form of weapon exists from muzzle-loading rifles (sheet pile bayonet) and continues to today`s modern rifles (M-9). The bayonet holder is a streamlined rail, which is mounted under a rifle barrel and is used to fix the so-called box bayonet. On older rifle models, this rail is fixed to the side of the rifle and is used to attach the mandrel to the spiny bayonets. Beginning in the 19th century, the beaked bayonet was gradually replaced by bayonets that had their own sleeves – called knife bayonets or swords – and were designed as knives, short pallasche or swords. The predecessors of these were in the 18th century plantable deer sensors, which, like these, were attached to the pipe by means of a side ring. However, as such weapons prevented the reloading of the front loader, they ultimately prevailed only with the introduction of the rear magazine.
But already in 1840, the French Jatagan with double curvature with a blade length of about 60 cm became exemplary. We also know the right Prussian side rifleman, enlarged at the front, about 50 cm long (blade) of 1860. The same is generally true for the carrying of prohibited weapons. Last but not least, I would like to give you some thoughts on how there are good alternatives, which are a little more versatile and can also be managed legally in certain circumstances. Since you are mainly interested in a bayonet, we focus here especially on the brachiality of the knife. Possession of these knives is illegal. A violation of this prohibition is a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment for up to 3 years! On some weapons, however, the bayonet is also firmly mounted and can be folded backwards. An example of this is the Simonov SKS-45 from the former Soviet Union shown here. We are talking about a folding bayonet.
Here you can see it in the reduced state. The carrying of the following knives is prohibited despite legal possession: 42,000 people die each year in Germany from the direct and indirect consequences of alcohol consumption, 140,000 from smoking and not 100 from legal firearms. If you are at least 18 years old and therefore of legal age, you can buy and own them legally. So it`s perfect for all knife collectors, just like me. On the other hand, it becomes problematic when driving outside your own property. Because this is not allowed in public. Since cutting and impact weapons (but not knives) fall under the Weapons Act, this applies to storage: As a general rule, there should therefore be no problem if you carry a knife with you in such a way that it is not accessible in a few simple steps. However, the legislator subjects to the prohibition of the guide an even more ambitious regulation for the transport of a knife (see next point).4.1 Transport in a sealed container The G36, introduced since 1997, has a bayonet holder as standard, but special bayonets have not been developed. The AKM Type II bayonet (M 74 and M 74/2), which was temporarily adopted by the NVA as a « combat knife, heavy » for cost reasons, had to be modified on the support so that it could be planted without removing the fire damper from the mouth. For this purpose, the original retaining ring has been replaced by another of larger diameter.
In addition, the leather belt holder has been replaced by a new one made of synthetic fibres and plastic, compatible with the Bundeswehr`s Soldat 95 transport system. This change was not made officially, but on a private initiative in limited quantities. In a written reply, the Bavarian StMI adds: Holders of the right of domicile, such as discotheque operators, schools, transport companies, etc., have the right to prohibit the transport of all possible things, such as knives. According to the Arms Act, for example, it would be quite permissible to go to the discotheque with a knife. In practice, however, the operator of the discotheque will establish its own rules for its location. For example, it has long been customary for fans of discos, concerts, football to be searched for objects of all kinds that can be used as weapons before admission. In addition to glass bottles, irritating gas sprays, etc., this even includes tiny pocket knives. On November 10, Kasalla, Brings, Blã¤ck Föss and Fortuna Ehrenfeld will also be present.
It is forbidden1. Apparent weapons, 2. Cutting and trampling weapons as defined in Annex 1, Section 1, Subsection 2, point 1.1 or 3. One-handed lockable blade knife (one-handed knife) or fixed knife with a blade length of more than 12 cm In short, a bayonet is a knife that can be attached to the barrel of a rifle so that it can be used as a knife in close combat in an emergency.
